Washington night tours start from a dozen kerbs, not one. Most sit downtown within a few blocks of Pennsylvania Avenue, and each has a Metro station beside it. Find the start printed on your Washington Night guided tours booking here, with the station to use.
The National Mall runs east to west, from the Capitol to the Lincoln Memorial. The Washington Monument stands near the middle. The White House lies just north of it, beyond the Ellipse.
The war memorials cluster at the west end, round the Reflecting Pool. South of them, the Tidal Basin holds the Jefferson, Roosevelt and King memorials. Every night tour loops through these two areas, because that is where the memorials are.
The downtown streets north of the Mall are where the tours start. Pennsylvania Avenue runs from the Capitol towards the White House, and the Navy Memorial and the National Archives sit on it. That stretch is the busiest start of the evening.
The biggest coaches meet on Pennsylvania Avenue, between 7th and 9th Streets. USA Guided Tours uses Navy Memorial Plaza at 701 Pennsylvania Avenue NW. The coaches with next-day ticket options meet outside the National Archives at 790, and ask you to be there by 7pm.
Both kerbs sit beside Archives station, on the Yellow and Green lines. The station is on 7th Street, between Pennsylvania and Indiana Avenues. You come up almost at the coaches.
The shared bike ride meets on D Street, just behind the Navy Memorial, at 801 or 701 D Street. Check in 15 minutes early. In the dark the sign-in tables along the avenue look alike, so read the name on the coach before you board.
If you arrive by rideshare for the USA Guided Tours coach, ask to be dropped on Pennsylvania Avenue itself. Drivers often stop on the wrong side of the block.
The vans and open-air rides start from hotel doors a few blocks north of Pennsylvania Avenue. You do not need to be staying at the hotel; it is only the meeting point.
Metro Center is the network's central hub, on the Red, Orange, Silver and Blue lines. Gallery Place is on the Red, Yellow and Green lines, so you can reach one of the two from almost anywhere you are staying.
The trolley leaves from two places, and your booking says which. At Union Station it picks up at the front of the station, in the Columbus Circle bus lane, at 50 Massachusetts Avenue NE. At the Washington Welcome Center it leaves from 1001 E Street NW.
Check in at least 30 minutes early at either one. Union Station has its own Metro station on the Red Line, under the west end of the railway terminal. The Welcome Center is a few blocks from Metro Center and Gallery Place.
RSN Tours' coach meets at the Smithsonian station's main entrance, under the Knapp Arch at 1200 Independence Avenue SW. The station sits on the Mall itself, on the Orange, Silver and Blue lines, so you step out almost at the start.
The private walk on the Mall starts at the entrance of the Mellon Auditorium, 1301 Constitution Avenue NW, and ends outside the White House. Federal Triangle station, on the same three lines, is the nearest.
The ghost walk meets outside the Old Stone House, 3051 M Street NW, and ends at the Exorcist Steps at 36th and Prospect Streets. Georgetown has no Metro station of its own. Foggy Bottom-GWU, at 23rd and I Streets, is the nearest, and a walk or a short ride away.
Across the Potomac, the Marine Corps War Memorial stands in Arlington, beside Arlington National Cemetery. Only tours with a vehicle reach it at night. The cemetery closes at 5pm, so you pass it from the road.
The private cars and the private bike ride have no kerb at all. They pick you up at your hotel or an address you choose, and bring you back at the end. The private bike ride starts any time from 5pm to 9pm. One private vehicle will also meet you at the Navy Memorial if you prefer.
One van collects at downtown hotels, and from hotels in Virginia or Maryland you meet it at the Marriott at Metro Center instead. Check the pickup rule on your booking: "downtown" is a short list of streets, not the whole city.
